Nuclear energy expert Arjun Makhijani, Ph.D. - Texas Tour
Dr. Arjun Makhijani toured Texas recently, speaking about U.S. energy policy ahead of the presidential debates on the energy future of our country in Houston, TX in March. Dr. Makhijani is a nuclear scientist and author of "Carbon-Free, Nuclear-Free: Roadmap to a U.S. Energy Policy" which provides a clear path to clean energy solutions while explaining why nuclear power is a bad choice at this time. His talk was timely since seven additional nuclear plants are being proposed in Texas.
Dr. Makhijani, who has systematically analyzed energy conservation potential in the U.S. economy, explained how we can get to a clean energy economy based on efficiency, conservation, and renewables. Dr. Makhijani is President of the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research (www.ieer.org.) He has a PhD from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences of the University of California at Berkeley, where he specialized in nuclear fusion. He has testified before Congress and appeared on national ABC, CBS, BBC, CNN and National Public Radio news shows, and has written for the Washington Post, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, Technology Review and other publications.
